Cornus florida Flowering Dogwood

DESCRIPTION: Attractive, deciduous, small tree with masses of white flower bracts in spring. Grows quickly when young, slowing with age. Excellent autumn colour.

USES: Useful for mixed shrubberies and underneath larger trees.

POSITION: Prefers a moist, well drained soil rich in organic matter with some protection from strong, hot, drying winds.

CARE: Mulch and water well during extended dry periods.

PLANTING: Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
