03 May Melia azedarach White Cedar
DESCRIPTION: Attractive, fast growing, deciduous tree. In late spring, panicles of mauve, sweetly caramel-scented flowers are displayed, followed by berries which turn yellow and are carried on the bare branches over winter.
USES: Ideal for providing dappled shade in most sized gardens.
CAUTION: Harmful if eaten.
POSITION: Hardy in most situations but prefers well drained, moist, organic soil.
CARE: Responds well to pruning.
PLANTING: Cultivate soil before planting. Dig hole twice the width of the container. Remove plant from container and place into the hole so the soil level is the same as the surrounding ground. Fill hole firmly and water in well even if the soil is moist.
