23 May Acer palmatum Osakazuki
A small, deciduous, ornamental tree grown for elegant form and decorative foliage.
FEATURES: Spring brings fresh, green, deeply lobed foliage, sometimes tinged red. The finely divided leaves give the tree a delicate appearance and a soft texture. In Autumn, the tree is ablaze with wonderful hues of orange, scarlet and crimson. One of the best Japanese maples for Autumn colour.
CONDITIONS: Requires deep, moist, fertile soils with protection from wind, in full sun or semi-shade. Frost hardy.
FOR BEST RESULTS: Stake tree when young. Mulch to retain soil moisture and control weeds. Do not allow to dry out.
PLANTING IDEAS AND USES: Beautiful specimen tree for courtyards, in larger gardens, looks superb planted in groups.
